It is our sad duty to advise the passing of Peter Beaumont last week at his house in Orakei. Better known to all as Pebo, he was a long time member of the NZ Aerobatic Club as well as NZ Warbirds, RNZAC and Auckland Aero Club. In his work life Pebo was a successful architect but his spare time was dominated by aviation in general and aerobatics in particular. Pebo was one of the original members of the Great Stunt Company that operated Pitts Special S2B, ZK-MAD. As a B-Cat flight instructor at AAC, he introduced students to the joy of aerobatics; many NZAC members developed their enthusiasm for the sport while training with Pebo in the Slingsby Firefly. Pebo was also an avid Warbird pilot and if you have ever seen the Trojan T-28 performing at airshows, it is highly likely Pebo was the pilot. Pebo was an ex-competition sailor, loved his WW2 army Jeeps and was a person with whom it was a delight to discuss almost any subject over a beer at one of the airfield bars. Pebo will be sorely missed by family and friends.
